The City
LONDON, ENGLAND
I lived in London for six years and often played basketball at Clapham Common. The court surface wasn’t the best, but the passion and ballers I played with in the early noughts. I was pleased to see the court had undergone a nice renovation since then. There is one full court and two half courts now. While football, cricket, tennis and other sports still occupy most of England’s sporting endevours, I believe there is a huge underbelly of basketball fans in the city and country.
The Run
I expected a good turnout but was still surprised at just how many people turned up. Once again the standard was high and what made it really fun was that because there were so many players, the wait time for a run was long, so once you got on the court, the guys really played hard because everyone wanted to stay on. Nobody wanted that 20-30 minute wait between games. We branched out and played on three of the four available hoops which was awesome to see.
The Star
Not actually there as a part of my run, Enel, aka the Sauce God was playing with his own group of friends. But, once I pulled out the sponsored giveaways, Enel and some of his buds joined in. With so many good athletes in attendance, I put on a Dunk Contest and while there were a lot of good dunkers, Enel stormed to victory.
